XALTE
Salt flats on the Colima coast, Mexico.

From the salt flats of Colima to your kitchen

The name

Xalte joins two Náhuatl roots: “xal”, salt, and “te”, gods. The salt of the gods.

The salt flats

Our salt comes from the salt flats of the Colima coast, on Mexico's Pacific. It is harvested by hand, with ancestral techniques, and only for about two months a year, when the weather allows.

The hands

Xalte's black ceramic salt cellars are handmade by artisans in Morelos, where our production centre is. Before building the brand we walked the salt flats and the workshops ourselves.

Who we are

Xalte was founded by Santiago Ávalos, Diego Ávalos and Pablo Gómez. The brand arrived in Spain in January 2025 with the aim of growing across Europe, on four pillars: sustainability, health, artisan origin and social impact.

Every grain of Xalte holds a story that cannot be automated.
